Just My Imagination
Tuesday, March 16th, 2010Why radio?
When I was much younger people used to comment on how they liked to hear me talk. I never understood why back then, but now that I’m older I think I know what they meant. Perhaps it was the way I would tell a story, or a joke and color it with my own personality. I have always lived my life with the pace of a good novel. I’ve always been curious and developed quite the imagination. If someone were to let me grant a certain power on people, it wouldn’t be invisibility, super-human strength or x-ray vision, it would be the gift of imagination. And you know what? Anybody can get it. It doesn’t have to be granted to you. All you have to do is read. And I’m not talking about newspapers, magazines or blogs, but novels. The good ones will open you up to new worlds other than your own, which, face it, can be rather boring and mundane if you let it get to you. By reading you get to take a peek into another persons life - warts and all - and you’ll see you are not the only one who has troubles, tragedies and turmoil. Maybe by reading you’ll get out of your own head for awhile and come up with solutions that can help you through whatever you’re going through. So, turn off the tv before getting into bed and break out a good book instead. You’ll find yourself getting much more creative, which brings me to my first thought. That’s why I got into radio. I used to read as a kid and it made me a creative individual. I read, write and play music, and take it slow enough to savor everything. So, try it on for size and tell me how it has changed you into a better person.
